Variables
Northern Saw-whet Owl
Occurred the most disproportionately in hexagons without big
sagebrush shrubland and with some public land and with a July
maximum temperature (hex. avg.) of 15-28 C. Also likely to occur in
hexagons with up to 38% big sagebrush shrubland if ponderosa pine
forest occupies more than 16% and there is relatively flat terrain. The
logistic regression analysis showed positive or negative association
with big sagebrush shrubland, May precipitation (hex. avg.), June
precipitation (hex. med.), and-to a lesser degree-mixed conifer
forest (Northeast Oregon), number of land cover types, April
precipitation (hex. avg.), and July minimum temperature (hex. avg.).
